Wake up to the darkness

Have you felt the embrace of darkness?
When you stayed up through the random night
Standing alone in the window after midnight, sharing time with only the moonlight
Staring away into the depths of the night

Have you sensed a nothingness in the late hour
In the dark recesses of your mind
As light fades away around you
Has it left you wondering what’s out there?
Just beyond the blurring edges of ambient light?

As you stand in the window
With a whimsical ray of moonlight falling on your face
Creating a smoky reflection in your window-pane
That’s your blurry reality staring you in the face

Have you not sensed the line
Between fiction and fact, fantasy and reality
And the stuff that dreams are made of
As the edges of reality beckon you
As reality becomes nothingness, the nothingness of the night

As you ghostly face stares back at you from the window
In the eddies of reflected moonlight
Moving in and out of the darkness
While you feel the goosebumps on the back of your neck?

Are these really the fringes of darkness
And the end of reality
Or are these the fringes of insanity
Deliciously beckoning you out into the night

Your pale face in the shadows
And darkness where your eyes would be
A nigh wicked smile on the ghostly lips
Daring you to walk with me

For I am the prince of darkness
And the transition is now complete
The moonlight is insanity
And refreshing lack of mediocrity
A fulfillment beyond the real world
The real that you call fantasy
A fantasy that will set you free, to be more than you can in the normalcy of mediocrity………………

Infinity after midnight
